The Major Horse of Raymond Duchamp-Villon

After an intervention on the spot carried out by LP Art which was entrusted with the packing, the transport and the installation of the work, the LaM - Lille Métropole Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art and Art Brut exhibits this summer the famous Cheval Majeur of Raymond Duchamp-Villon which was lent to it by the CNAP - National Center of Plastic Arts.
The result of a beautiful story between the brothers Raymond Duchamp-Villon, Jacques Villon and Marcel Duchamp (who created the work in 1966 with the help of the sculptor Gilioli), this bronze with a black patina weighing 550 kg is made up of sections of spheres, cylinders and cones evoking connecting rods, pulleys and axles, and constitutes in the history of art one of the first mergers between the movement of a machine and that of an animated being.
